Tom has the unique ability to build a strong team starting in preconstruction. He begins by understanding the project goals and values that are most important to the client.  A lifetime of experience in construction—from carpentry foreman to superintendent, to project manager, to chief estimator, to development manager/project executive—gives Tom the expertise to manage a project from feasibility through completion.  With an easy communication style, Tom brings clarity to complex issues, and loves the challenge of balancing quality and aesthetics with sustainable, cost-effective solutions.

Tom's career in the construction industry has not only spanned twenty-five years but also two countries.  As the owner and operator of an infill-oriented construction and development company in Vancouver, he gathered invaluable experience in delivering projects on difficult sites and high exposure locations.  His interest in sustainable construction practices stems from his early exposure to working in Vancouver's intensely eco-friendly urban landscape.  Since returning to the U.S., Tom has established sustainable construction practices as a primary direction for Urban Edge Builders and he has received his LEED professional accreditation.
